The sensations that patients experience during acupuncture vary according to each individual. Some patients do not feel any sensations while others may feel a brief ache or heaviness in the area being needled. Some points are more sensitive than others. Generally, patients describe the sensations as fleeting and the treatment experience as deeply relaxing.
Are the needles safe?
Yes. Sterile disposable needles are used. They are used only one time and then disposed of immediately.
Are Chinese Herbs safe?
Yes. When prescribed and used correctly, Chinese herbal formulas rarely cause unwarranted side-effects. The companies that manufacture my herbal products have strict quality assurance standards. They select the highest quality herbs and conduct the safest standards of production.
Do I have to be ill to benefit from acupuncture?
Absolutely not. Many patients come for regular treatments to achieve increased effectiveness and enjoyment in life. Acupuncture can also be a powerful preventative measure to keep you healthy throughout the year.
Is acupuncture covered by insurance?
I am a participating provider for Blue Cross and Blue Shield insurance. A growing number of other insurance companies will reimburse patients directly for acupuncture treatments. Consult your insurer to determine the terms of coverage on your policy. Here are a few questions to ask:

The frequency of treatments varies with each individual. Please feel free to call me to discuss your concerns and explore a possible plan of treatment. (The section of this website titled “Getting Started” addresses the treatment sequence in more depth).
